Gears of War Ultimate Bundle Revealed: "

A listing on GameStop's site for something called "Gears of War Ultimate" appeared yesterday, without fanfare or elaboration.It will cost you $29.99 and will be out on Feb. 15, 2011. There were no other details on what the bundle will contain, although Epic confirmed to IGN that this does not involve Gears of War 3 or the Gears of War 3 beta --just as you'd expect, given the low, low price.

Gears 3 is expected to hit in the Fall of 2011, so, if I had to guess what the Ultimate box is, I'd speculate that it's a re-packaging of the first two Gears games to give uninitiated players a look into the Gears universe well in advance of the release of the third game in the Gears series.

Gears Of War 2 XP Event -- The 12 Days Of Gearsmas: "

 

Gears of War 2 will be having a special 12 Days of Christmas event. Epic likes to reward the gamers who are still playing their games with bonus XP weekends. In the past they've added up to 30x XP to GoW 2. In honor of the impending holidays Gears players will get to enjoy golden guns and extra XP. Starting tomorrow players will earn 12x XP in multiplayer. Epic will raise the multiplayer XP each day by one, the last day of the event will have 23x XP. Keep reading for The Official 12 Days of Gearsmas List with all the perks, upgrades and changes being made.

Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski has tweeted that Gears of War 3 will feature some 'special unlocks' for fans of other games the company has had a hand in, including Unreal Tournament 3, the upcoming Bulletstorm and Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex. Don't worry if you don't happen to own one of those, though, as Epic tells Joystiq directly that Bleszinski was talking about 'unlockable content' for everyone rather than something specifically for owners of those other games. 'Everybody gets the content,' we were told, but 'those 'in the know' will just 'get it.''



As in 'get a little more excitement out of it,' because Epic fans will understand the references. In fact, Epic even added one more title to the list of references that the third Gears of War game will make: its iOS hit Infinity Blade. And if you don't know your God King from your Jason Flemming, or what an Impact Hammer is, then you've got plenty of time to find out before Gears 3 debuts later on in 2011.

Cliff Bleszinski Confirms "No Kinect In Gears of War 3": "

Epic Games is expected to make a Kinect-related Gears of War reveal at Spike TV’s upcoming Video Game Awards, and while nothing is known for sure at this point, Epic’s Cliff Blizinsky has clarified one of the rumors swirling around the interwebs: “No Kinect in Gears of War 3.”
According to sources close to IGN, Epic is working on a Gears project that will incorporate Kinect in some fashion. One of the leading bits of speculation was that perhaps Gears 3 would be getting a little motion sensing/voice recognition love from Microsoft’s newly released camera system. But that’s apparently not the case.

Instead, we could be looking at a Gears-inspired, Kinect powered spinoff, or maybe even a patch for previous Gears games. I’m pulling for a new game, because when it comes to anything motion controlled, it’s always better when it’s built from the ground up rather than simply having the controls tacked on to an existing game.

Fortunately, the wondering will be over come December 11 when the VGAs are taped.
