EA hopes to tie together the events of the first Dead Space game with those of Dead Space 2, the sequel set to launch in January, and it's looking to accomplish this with ... well, yes, with the poorly received downloadable Dead Space: Ignition. But also with another Dead Space game! Instead of an animated motion comic with minigames, Dead Space on the iPhone is a 3D game with all of the gusto and flair of its console brethren. This thing looks and plays fantastically -- at least, I thought so after a brief demo at a recent downtown San Francisco event.

The Dead Space 2 demo is available for download on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network, but if you don't have access to play the demo you can, however, check out our gameplay video showing off Isaac Clarke on a terrifying adventure through the Church of Unitology.

In the demo, players will also have access to a variety of new tools that Isaac can use to fight Necromorphs, including the new Javelin gun, updated stasis recharge mechanic and enhanced telekinesis abilities ready to go in the demo for Dead Space 2. Also, experience full 360 control of Isaac in Zero-G space while dodging big blades of death.

Dead Space 2's release date is on January 28, 2011. Are you getting scared yet?
