Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku and kagamine rinYou know that a character has reached new heights when a fan decides to launch a petition to create a custom made plate of the said character that will be used as a balancing weight for a... spacecraft explorer?!

That is exactly what Sumio "chodensi-P" Morioka did. In November 2009, he started the Hatsune Miku aluminum plate petition for the Japanese Venus spacecraft explorer, Akatsuki, which will be launched in summer of 2010. Dr. Seiichi Sakamoto of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency backed him up but only reached the 10,000 signatures necessary after the original deadline; 20th of December 2009. However, due to the delays in the Akatsuki project, a new deadline, 6th of January 2010 was set, and the project received over 14,000 signatures.

Awesome fanbase with great cosplayers too! It makes me wonder what songs this Miku and Rin are in. Thanks to Riffonliner for emailing the photo!

Vocaloid Cosplay PV: Melt

I can't believe how cute this video is! Please check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Here are some notes from Peggy, the animator and the cosplayer of Miku:

song by Supercell,he's a very famous composer in the world of vocaloid!
Did a cosplay PV for it because this is one of the first few songs that i heard from a vocaloid and its kinda memorable to me.

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Len

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku and kagamine lenThe most popular Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, is accompanied by a rather grown-up looking version of Kagamine Rin's "twin", Kagamine Len. It makes you wonder if Kaito will get jealous over this picture.

Then again, Len and Rin are supposedly "one and the same", aren't they? Where in the world could Rin be?

Thanks to Fakir for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Kamui Gakupo

vocaloid 2 cosplay - gackpoid / kamui gakupo / gackpoInternet Co. Ltd. wanted to utilize an actual musician’s voice for Vocaloid, but thought it would be difficult to acquire cooperation. However, when the consulted Dwango about the matter, they found that Gackt previously provided his voice for Dwango’s cell phone services. A few negotiations later with the famed musician and actor, Gakupoid was born.

He’s not in his usual samurai clad, but I’m guessing fans would know from which music video this is from? Really love the purple hues in this photo. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 04

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 04Actually, I’m not so sure if this is Hatsune Miku or not, but I’ll take a wild guess that it is because of that long, green, pigtailed hair.

Unless there is another character similar to Miku from an anime or game I don’t know about, which could be highly likely too. Let me know either way?

Thanks again to Sam for emailing me another Miku from Winter Comiket!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin 02Voice actress Shimoda Asami provides the voice of both Kagamine Rin and Len, who is the boy version of Rin. Strangely enough, Rin and Len’s synthesizer cost as much as Miku’s even though they are two for the price of one.

On July 2008, Crypton released an expansion disc free of charge for those who already bought the old version. The disc is an entirely different software and does not affect the original Rin and Len in any way, allowing the users to use one or the other, or even both.

Cute Rin from Winter Comiket! I can’t believe she’s out in the cold in that outfit. Thanks to Mika-Mi for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 03

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 03 from winter comiketLast year’s Winter Comiket in Japan has given us a ton of beautiful cosplays without the “luxury” of Photoshop! Many readers have been sending these photos in, and I will do my best to feature as many as I can!

Starting off, we have Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid 2! It looks like a customized version with her fluffy headsets, and the material she used for her arm warmers and skirt is just lovely!

Many thanks to Sam for emailing this! I’ll be posting more very soon!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine lukaFirst released on January 30, 2009, Megurine Luka is the voice of a 20-year-old girl who can sing in both Japanese and English. Her voice actress is Asakawa Yu and she was designed by Manga Artist, Kei, the same designer of Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, and Kagamine Len. Like her predecessors, Luka’s is based on “sound” (ne) combined with the term “circulate” (meguri).

According to this blog, the cosplayer is known as Ibara, and she has a ton of cosplays done already. I think this is one of my favorites from her works though. Thank you for sharing this!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin by kipi

The second installment from Vocaloid 2, Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len are 2 voice synthesizers packaged into one. According to their official blog, Rin and Len are not siblings, but mirrors of one another. In fact, the family name is comprised of "kagami" meaning "mirror" and "ne" meaning "sound". Rin and Len is also a pun for Left and Right.

Kipi makes an awesome Rin. I wonder who'd be a fitting Len for her?

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 02From a music synthesizer to various appearances in anime, manga, and games, Hatsune Miku has won the hearts of many and fulfilled the dreams of hopeful composers.

Her voice comes from actual samplings by Fujita Saki, a voice actress in Japan. And because of Miku’s popularity, a Playstation Portable game known as “Hatsune Miku: Project Diva” will be released later this year.

She makes a pretty cute Miku. If anyone has any idea who this is or where this picture was from, please do let me know so that I can properly credit this photo and the cosplayer!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku

Double post day perhaps? You know I have something really good when I double post… More to my amusement really.

To the fans of my previous cosplay article, including: The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi: Suzumiya Haruhi, Gundam Seed Destiny: Meer Campbell 03, Inuyasha: Kikyo and Inuyasha, Inyusaha: Inuyasha… I give you, the name behind the cosplays… Arisa Mizuhara!

I was only able to find her after reading up an article on Vocaloid 2, which is apparently a “singing” synthesizer. But anyway, the character they made, Hatsune Miku, is rather cute and I thought I’d look up to see if anyone cosplayed her yet.

That’s how I found Arisa… Thank you, Google!

Please visit Arisa’s site, which has a lot more impressive cosplays!
