Vampire Knight: Touya Rima and Souen Ruka

I was quite pleased when Australian cosplayer, ~Rima-kawaii contacted me in my Deviant Art account in order to contribute this lovely photo of her as Touya Rima and her friend ~silverfiction "Mik" as Souen Ruka. It's nice to see a Western twist in the popular series, Vampire Knight by Hino Matsuri. Thanks so much for this, Rima!

Vampire Knight: Ichijou Takuma 02

A close friend of Shiki Senri and Touya Rima, Ichijou's grandfather allowed him to enter Cross academy so that he could spy on the pure blood, Kuran Kaname. Ichijou refused to follow his grandfather's orders out of loyalty, but when Kuran Rido possessed Shiki, he was forced to go against Kaname in order to protect his friends. He returns to Kaname's side once Shiki was freed, going so far as challenging his own grandfather to put an end to the Ichijou line.

Vampire Knight: Kiryuu Zero 05

Born of twins into an infamous Vampire Hunter family, Zero’s fate drastically changed when he was attacked by a pure blooded vampire, Hio Shizuka. He lost his parents and his twin, Ichiru, chose to stay with Shizuka, leaving him alone and orphaned. Despite these series of unfortunate events, Kaien Cross adopted Zero and Yuki began to help him recover emotionally.

Cosplayer “Nectar” makes a convincing Zero! And we haven’t had a lot of cosplays of him yet. Thanks to Ishitar for suggesting this!

Now here is an awesome cosplay by Sorceress MooNBlaDeR of Deviant Art.

This is Kaname Kuran from Vampire Knight, but he is actually “cosplaying”. The magazine publishing Vampire Knight, Lala, had a “cosplay contest” and the winner, M.I. from Tokyo, submitted the theme “Angels and Demons”. M.I. won the contest and Hino Matsuri drew the idea.

Vampire Knight: Souen Ruka 03

When Rido Kuran attacked the Cross Academy, Ruka helped protect the Day Class students from Rido’s followers despite her dislike of humans. In the anime, she’s shown to have the power of mind control, while the manga has not shed much light on her powers.

When Kaname hosted a ball for the new Vampire Society and the Hunters Association, Ruka was seen teaching Yuki proper etiquette, as well as helping her get ready for the ball.

Beautiful Ruka! Although the official Japanese name according to Hino Matsuri is “Luca”. I guess both names sound pretty similar anyway. Great work!

Vampire Knight: Kurenai Maria and Yuki Cross

A distant relative of Hio Shizuka, Maria acted as her vessel when she infiltrated Cross Academy. Once there, she told Yuki she had the secret to keep Zero from falling into level E, and in order to gain that secret, she must do one of two things: sacrifice herself, or kill Kuran Kaname.

You can probably guess what Yuki chooses in this photo. Both of them have really well-made dresses too, but didn’t Yuki give that rose on her choker to Zero? Great work still! Thank you for uploading this!

Vampire Knight: Kuran Kaname 07

Kuran Kaname is the first ancestor of the Kuran clan who was taken from eternal slumber and forced back into the land of the living by his own descendant, Rido Kuran. While Rido’s purpose in reviving Kaname was to make use of his powers, Kaname was able to kill his master by the use of a “white pawn stained black”, Kiryuu Zero.

Quite impressive that the cosplayer is able to capture Kaname’s look. I love the eyes and how they seem to look right through you. Wonderful job!

Vampire Knight: Yuki Cross and Kiryuu Zero

When they were young, Zero came to live with Chairman Cross as his family was attacked by a pure-blooded vampire, Hio Sihzuka. Yuki reached out to him as she thought her family had probably disappeared the same way, despite not remembering any of it. Yuki gave Zero a sense of purpose and holds her dearly, not knowing that fate can be even more cruel than he imagined.

Beautiful cosplay! I love the rose petals in this picture. At least now the Ze-ki fans will stop trying to kill me… but Kana-ki is still a nice pairing too. I wonder who will end up with who in the end?

Vampire Knight: Souen Ruka

Loyally and faithfully dedicated to Kuran Kaname, Ruka has had strong feelings for Kaname even when they were still children. She has even offered her blood to Kaname in order to ease his hunger, but he has only done so once to protect Yuki from his urge to bite her. Although Ruka first despises Yuki for being chosen by Kaname to be his lover, Ruka eventually accepts her and remains ever vigilant in serving her Lord.

Beautiful Ruka. There have been a lot of Vampire Knight cosplayers going around for a while. Hino Matsuri must have a lot of fans by now. Great job on this cosplay!

Vampire Knight: Kiryuu Zero 03

It would appear that my photobucket account has exceeded its bandwidth limits... Which is why you see a lot of those default photobucket images here today.

I might have to reconsider which photo service I should use for this blog, but for now, I think I'll use Picasa and my other Photobucket account.

I will need to move a few images here and there to keep the bandwidth in check, so please have a bit of patience with me.

Vampire Knight: Kuran Kaname 06

Kaname is the ancestor of the Kurans, the very first pure blood vampire who was reincarnated thanks to his own descendant, Rido. Despite wanting to kill Rido to avenge his parents’ death, Kaname could not finish him because Rido is his creator. In order to save Yuki, Kaname reduced Rido to a state wherein he could not fully revive unless he takes the blood of another pureblooded vampire.

But this was only the first step in Kaname’s plans. After incapacitating Rido, Kaname decided to find and raise someone who will be capable of killing Rido while being unable to betray him… in this case, Zero was his “pawn” because Kaname knew he could not betray Yuki.

One would think of Kaname as manipulative, and yet he’s done all this because he wanted to protect Yuki. It’s a little unnerving… But still, this is a beautiful cosplay. Great work!

Vampire Knight: Kuran Kaname 05

If there is one cosplay series I can't seem to get enough of, it's Vampire Knight; specifically, Kuran Kaname.

There are simply far too many great cosplays of the series out there that I can't help but feature them. The anime has been finished, and the manga has a few chapters left. It would be interesting to see what the mangaka has in store for us in the end.

Please do choose your favorite Kaname cosplayer from what I have so far! I'd love to hear your opinions. :3

Vampire Knight: Kiryuu Zero 02

So I realized… trying to seperate the East and West into 2 different blogs isn’t really all that nice to look at. It’s subjected to a lot of misunderstandings and I had to learn that the hard way.

Rather than abandon this blog, however, I decided to populate it, and start over. Meaning all of my old posts will be deleted, and new ones will have to come about.

I’m not sure how much I can post here, but I will do my best to add cosplays in my blogspot, sanriotown, and cartoon network blog! I hope I can make it, though!

Vampire Knight: Touya Rima

One of the youngest students of the Night Class, Touya Rima is a quiet girl who works as a model along side Senri Shiki. Though little is known about the nature of their relationship, they are often seen together and have similar personalities. Like many vampires, Rima posses the ability to control lightning.

When Rido was using Shiki's body, Rima was able to tell almost immediately that something was wrong. She later confronts Shiki and tries to force Rido out of him. Ichijou comes between the two and sends a badly wounded Rima back to the Moon Dormitories; to protect both her and Shiki.

Technically, I'm still on break, but I wanted to change my layout for the coming new year. And because I'm a bit of scatter brain, I seemed to have deleted my poll..! ;~; I was able to save the results though, and Asian Cosplayers was the winner for this round! Rest assured, I will definitely keep featuring different cosplays from around the world.

Unknown Entry 022

So technically, this week’s unknown cosplay is actually "known". But I’m a little confused.

From the site info, this is Shiki Senri, Kaname’s younger cousin who works as a model along side Rima. But I asked a few people and they think he looks more like Kuran Kaname himself despite the red hair.

So I leave it up to you guys to decide. Is he cosplaying as Shiki, or as Kaname?

Vampire Knight: Souen Ruka, Ichijou Takuma, and Kuran Kaname

Childhood friends Souen Ruka, Ichijou Takuma, and Kuran Kaname are Night Class students of the Cross Academy, and fellow vampires.

Ruka is loyal and dedicated to Kaname, even to the point of loving him. Her feelings are left unrequited because Kaname has chosen Yuki to be his lover. After discovering that Yuki is Kaname’s pureblood sister, Ruka comes to accept Yuki and remains dedicated to Kaname in a mature and level-headed attitude.

A beautiful, black and white photo of the 3 Night Class students! It’s also a good choice to go for a black and white photo for this series. Great work, Olga!

Vampire Knight: Yuki Cross 02

Yuki is the adopted daughter of Cross Academy’s headmaster, Kaien Cross. She is a first year student who acts as a Guardian to keep peace and harmony among the Day Class, consisting of mostly human students, and the Night Class, which are composed of vampires.

Despite her affection for Night Class Leader and President, Kuran Kaname, she has a fear of vampires due to her childhood experience of one of them trying to bite her. Kaname is an exception because he was the one who saved Yuki, but after she witnessed his vampire nature of feeding on one of Night Class students, she became distant to him, though her affections stubbornly remained.

Vampire Knight: Kuran Kaname and Kiryuu Zero

Born into a well-known Vampire Hunter Family, Kiryuu Zero had a twist of fate, thanks to a pure blood vampire Hio Shizuka wiping out his entire family. It is because of her that he hates vampires, and the fact that he has become a Level E vampire himself makes it difficult for him to get over his hatred.

He has a dependent relationship with Kaname, another pure blood vampire who allowed Zero to drink his blood in order to suppress his thirst for blood.

Gorgeous cosplay by On/Off, the pair who performed Vampire Knight opening song, Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi (Two Heartbeats and the Red Sin). I wish Zero had silver hair, but he's got the attitude down. Great work!

Vampire Knight: Seiren

Little is known about Kuran Kaname’s unofficial bodyguard, Seiren. She is quiet, reserved, and obey Kaname’s orders absolutely. She is also the first to defend Kaname against any threat, barely restraining herself from killing Zero when he threatened Kaname with the Bloody Rose.

Beautiful cosplay! Loon captured Seiren’s expression perfectly. This was taken in Cosmania Philippines some time ago. Thanks also to Erving Go for the awesome photography! Great job!

Vampire Knight: Yuki Cross and Kuran Kaname

On winter evening, Yuki finds herself alone in the middle of nowhere. She has no memories of her parents or relatives, but she was attacked by a vampire, Kuran Kaname was there to come to her rescue.

Kaname then brings her to Cross Academy where she is adopted by the headmaster and given the name Yuki Cross.

Since then, she has looked highly upon Kaname. Yuki is very affectionate towards Kaname as she would to an older brother. Maybe something more.

This is a beautiful shot of the main characters of Vampire Knight. I love their expressions, and I think this cosplayer makes a nice rival for Stay. Nice job!
