'In addition to Call of Duty in 2011 we will have new release from our other proven franchises including the Hero brand, Spider-Man, X-Men, and Transformers, which will be supported by what is expected to be another major blockbuster movie from Michael Bay,' said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg during the call (via CVG). We already know X-Men: Destiny is on the way from developer Silicon Knights, but this also seems to confirm a sequel to the successful Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and also another Transformers tie-in game when the third movie hits theaters next summer. As for the 'Hero' games, it's interesting that Hirshberg left it open-ended as to which franchises that could include. The latest Guitar Hero, Warriors of Rock, has so far suffered dramatically lower sales compared to past entries in the series, but then DJ Hero 2 may not be shaping up as a tremendous hit, either (although it's hard to say, as Activision has barely released any sales info on it -- but it did fail to crack the top 20 in its first week of release in the U.K.).
During Activision's investors conference call yesterday, where they also revealed they expect 2010 to be their most profitable year ever, Activision also looked toward 2011, promising new releases in a number of big franchises.
