All 6 Star Wars Movies to be Re-Released in 3D Starting in 2012!

All 6 Star Wars Movies to be Re-Released in 3D Starting in 2012!: "Looks like Lucas is finally ready to squeeze more money out of us. All 6 movies will be converted to 3D and released one every year starting with The Phantom Menace in 2012. I wonder if by 2018 we will get Episodes 7-9 Trilogy.

What do you all think? Do you want to fork out the money to see Star Wars again?

Big news on the 3D front.

Sources indicate that George Lucas is set to re-release the entire 'Star Wars' franchise in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. Though the 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas was purportedly waiting until there were enough 3D screens available to make the release a sizable enough event.

Fox, which released all six of the original 'Star Wars' films, would also release the 3D versions.

Part 1, 'The Phantom Menace,' would be first out of star-dock in the early months of 2012. After that, each of the films would be released in order at the same time each consecutive year, depending on how well the first re-release does.

Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas personally overseeing the process to make sure each one is as perfected as possible. Lucas has said that the 'Avatar' experience convinced him that 'Star Wars' was ready for the state-of-the-art 3D treatment.

Also pushing the timetable is a potential breakthrough in 3D television technology. With Samsung penetrating the market with 50,000-plus 3D-equipped televisions, and Sony planning to send its version to market in the coming months, the home-viewing experience could be primed for 3D DVD versions of the classic films by the time the new 3D series runs its course.

Lucas is purportedly queuing up the theatrical re-releases as a lead-in to the ultimate home viewing experience. Beyond that, the property would launch to all other 3D media.

& a little lolita

A few days ago I started thinking. All I ever post here is about cosplay. To me it is not all that surprising as lolita is to me not a hobby but a style I dress in. Therefore I renamed the blog to DcastEye Cosplay, & a little lolita. That means I will still be posting about lolita, but this blog will mostly contain cosplay and sewing.

A little treat. The photo is one of those times when I first started to wear lolita. Me and my friend were doing commercial for a Japanese culture event and dressed up since we were going to be in the newspaper, me in lolita and she in my Haruhi Suzumiya-costume.

But now I have to write a paper for school so for now. Bye!

PS. Later in week I will treat you on a giveaway. :D

SWTOR - The Comfort of Companions

SWTOR - The Comfort of Companions: "

Can you imagine Luke Skywalker attempting to walk the path of a Jedi without the assistance of Obi-Wan, the Princess, or Han? It is these companions that not only opened doors for Luke in the Star Wars movies, but also the personalities that helped make an IP great.

BioWare is attempting to recreate this magic with the companion system in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Will having a built in duo inhibit the group dynamic or will these unique sidekicks add another level of depth and immersion? Ten Ton Hammer, has an interesting editorial on  this:

Yeah, you might be able to grab your companions butt without fearing an incoming sexual harassment lawsuit, but they have far more uses than a quick tickle and giggle. Companions will be specifically tailored to your class with their own complimentary skills and abilities. If you choose to play ranged damage class, a companion might specialize in melee skills that will offer protection in battle or a fighter may be joined by a companion that has healing skills aiding in your survival.

Read Ten Ton Hammers  "The Comfort of Companions" then post and let them know what you think! Are you looking forward to forging relationships with these NPCs or do you think they will toss another roadblock in the multi-player aspect of the game?

Cosplay Fall/Winter in Colour

Yes, I was bored. And my plans changes :D

Odin's Sphere - Velvet: For KodachiKun in October I hope that I will finish Velvet, and hope for good weather as well.

Velvet is one of the character in Odin's Sphere and I haven't even gotten as far to play with her yet but I still like her design, even thou this is less revealing side. And I love the idea of cosplaying a princess that can take care of her self.

Now I just have to get started since there is less than a month before the con. The hard part will be the sphere, or the weapon. I have to get myself some transparent acrylic or similar.

Macross Frontier - Sheryl Nome: I have two Sheryl Nome cosplays planned and in progress. The first is a casual red dress that is used in episodes 2 and 3. The second one is here on the right. It is from the Diamond Crevasse booklet and I really like the design. In the booklet there isn't anymore to see than this, but I have found the official picture for the whole dress and is at the moment sketching up the pattern.

The red dress is in the making and all I really have to get my hands on are a wig. The hard part about getting an matching wig for Sheryl is that her hair is blonde in the sun but gets pink in the shade.

Black Butler - Elizabeth: Since I saw Lizzy's dress I wanted to have it. It is so pretty and not pink like all the others. I use enough pink causally and this dress is just so cute. Not to stop with the fact that I have a friend doing Ciel. :D

Some more small cosplays in progress are:

* Fullmetal Alchemist - Winry Rockbell: I've loved the Fullmetal Alchemist series since I started to see and read it. And I could side with Edward since I know how it is to be in chibi-size. But I started on Winry because she is a good character and the design was not to hard as well. I can use the clothes in my casual wear, always a good thing.

* Hetalia - Seychelles: I had the wig and a similar dress in progress. Let's go!

* Cardcaptor Sakura - Sakura Kinomoto: It's been four years since I started cosplaying and then it was with Sakura. So this spring I got the wig, since I didn't feel like cutting it off this time, and everything is cut out. Now all I have to do is sew it and make myself a key to the Clow-cards. :)

There are some more, but since the time is ticking and I should have been asleep three hours ago I just leave them for now. Bye! :)

Medieval Petrol Outfit

So last week I went to a medieval fair or market to work. Of course I had to wear something proper otherwise I wouldn't fit in. After some scouting and browsing I found a reconstruction of the Moy Bog-dress from Ireland that I felt could work. The pattern is dated to late 14th century.

Then the fun began. I enlarged the print so that I could just draw of the pattern and it kind of looked like this:

I found this lovely dark blue petrol coloured wool fabric that didn't made me that poor and decided to hem it with a black velvet that I had laying back home. We had early on decided that I would look as I came from the higher stands so I could wear both blue and dark which at that time were expensive colours. Velvet was also made in use during the later time period of the middle ages so the dress is almost according time except that I was lazy and sewed it on machine.

Under the dress I wore a cotton dress which not exactly is according to the period, since cotton was mostly used in Egypt and I would have been at the World's End according to the Greeks. But I had to have something under my wool dress and I already had some meters at home. I still haven't sewn on the sleeves but it worked since they would still not be visible.

The underdress took about five-six meters, but with the width that I gained I kind of understand that. The dress contains eight wide wedges and is surprisingly easy to walk in.

Now for the wool dress. I changed the pattern a bit, as I have a habit of doing. I skipped two of the wedges since I didn't needed them and added a little trail. Until I learned not to walk on the trail, that took some time.

My buttons were dressed by CarpeDentum and Madiijre as I didn't had the time to make them. I am so grateful to them, specially since I wouldn't made it in the dress if I didn't have the buttons.

To the outfit I also made a veil, that big white thing on my head, and the bag. The bag was something that I don't think would be seen in the middle ages as it is made of one of my old winter jackets. It is always good to use old things.

A better picture of the outfit can be found here: link

Cosplay Plans Fall and Winter

Here is some of what I have planned for this fall. Conventions and events to attend and cosplays to sew, as soon as I get money.
This is what I have planned:
KodachiKun, 1-day
? Seychelles - Hetalia
? Sheryl Nome - Macross Frontier

J-popcon, 3-days
Friday: Sheryl Nome - Macross Frontier (Casual red dress - ep 2-3)
Saturday: Elizabeth - Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji (Valentine-dress)
Sunday: ?

ConFusion, 3-days
?

And I'm sure there will be changes as I talk with my cosplay group as well, since most part of it is going crazy with cosplay events this summer, while I lay low.

More on the blog?

This spring/summer I had a poll asking what you wanted to see more on this blog and the results were this <---.

  • What is it that you want to see in sewing? Work in progress or just some random photos I take when sewing. It could also be things that I sew that are neither cosplay or lolita.
  • Lolita: What do you want to read in the lolita department? I use lolita clothing as clothing. It is something that I wear, but I am thinking of writing an post on how I found and started dress in lolita. I am also kind of bad at taking outfit pix, but I will try to do better in that department.
  • Tutorials: Working on my first skirt tutorial, but I have at least two more planned. What do you want a tutorial about?
  • Events: I don't attend that many events and I don't feel like spilling out everything that happens in my life on this blog but I'm getting better at taking photos whenever I'm out doing things so there will be more photos in the event-part at least.
Is there anything that you would like me to take up in this blog? I want this to be my blog and therefore it is much more cosplay than lolita, since cosplay is one of my hobbies while lolita is something that I wear everyday I feel like it.
