On vacation
Yes, I'm away for a while and have been away for a while as well. I got a job and slept alot and then I took the train and went visit a friend and I still haven't gotten home. I will in the following week so I can come home scanning my upcoming tutorial.
On Wednesday I will finally post part 1 of my high waisted tutorial, which will contain the pattern making. And then part 2, which contains all the sewing will follow in the end of the week, if I don't have too work.
Other than that, I will go to a medieval fair in the end of august. And me and a friend of mine have been appointed seamstresses for the rest of my gang as only one one of us have a outfit. That will be really fun since the fair accept clothes from early 500 till 16th Century. That is a lot of years to cover and many fashions to look in to.
But now I'm going back to my vacation and see what's going to happen today. ^^

BioWare confirms space combat for Star Wars: The Old Republic
BioWare's community managers have confirmed that The Old Republic will allow players to engage in space combat, which -- well of course it will. What did you think, that BioWare would announce during E3 that players would have their own spaceships for housing purposes, and that those spaceships would stay permanently on the ground? Are we to believe that the world of Star Wars: The Old Republic is just one big trailer park, with people living out of their dormant A-Wings and TIE fighters, soft mounds of Space-Skoal tucked into their alien oral cavities?
Fan site Mos Eisley Radio reported the rumor of space combat first during Comic-Con, which BioWare quickly confirmed in a forum thread. Originally, the announcement was to come when community members had reached a certain social networking outreach goal -- which they didn't. Don't worry, though: Even if BioWare had decided to withhold that info as a punishment for their failure to adequately spread the word, we could have told everyone that, yes, spaceships fly.
Details are slim now, but BioWare says further info on the mechanics of space combat will surface in the October issue of PC Gamer magazine.

First Look At Ryan Reynolds As Green Lantern
Brooklyn theater putting on plays inspired by video games
Just because we're video game fans here at Joystiq doesn't mean we appreciate the more classical forms of art -- as long as they're related to video games, that is. Like this series of shows at the Brick Theater in Brooklyn, NY, for example. It's a whole month of some quality live drama, all driven and influenced by video games.
There's Grand Theft Ovid, which tells some of the Roman poet's tales using everyone's favorite carjack simulator (along with a few other popular games). Modal Kombat features a set of guitar controllers that are used to play non-music games. The best, though, might be the Theater of the Arcade, which takes old games like Duck Hunt and Donkey Kong and presents them, re-imagined, as short theatrical vignettes. O Mario, Mario, wherefore art thou?
The shows are going on at the Brick through the rest of July. Performances are just $15, plus there's also a Rock Band Karaoke night and a few other game-related events sprinkled throughout the run. If your significant other is complaining that you're spending too many nights in front of the TV and not enough out enjoying the arts, this seems like a perfect compromise.
[Thanks, Edward!]

'Star Wars' Invades The New York City Subway System
One of the wonderful things about living in New York City for an artist is having the opportunity to share your work with any number of people at a moment's notice. No matter the time of day, whether you're in the park, strolling along the sidewalk or traveling via mass transit, there's always someone around, always a captive audience.
Enter Improv Everywhere, a New York City-based group of roving performers who create scenes in public spaces without warning. One of their more recent forays plunged into the city's subway system, the number 6 train to be precise. I'm not going to spoil it for you; just know that you're getting a memorable scene from 'Star Wars,' reenacted to the amusement of the gathered subway riders.
Also note that none of the Imperial Stormtroopers are carrying fake blaster rifles. Hey-- it's still New York!

Despicable Me Sequel in Development
Well, this news should come as no surprise considering the past weekend’s box office results, but it appears audiences can look forward to another Despicable Me film at some point. Universal’s Illumination Studios scored a hit with its first feature over the weekend, doubling most analysts’ predictions with an impressive 56.4 million gross. The studio’s head honcho, Chris Meledandri, is in talks with writers Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio on the proposed sequel now. But, if you just can’t wait for the next film, you’re in luck. Illumination will be producing two short films featuring the minion characters from the film.
While I’ll admit I haven’t seen Despicable Me yet, I’ve certainly been seeing a lot of these little guys plastered all over the place. They seem to possess the same kind of appeal as the penguins in Madagascar or Scrat in the Ice Age films. As positive word-of-mouth travels about the film, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some type of spin-off as well.
Illumination seems to be building quite a line-up and the company’s future appears bright. Next year they’ll release Hop, a live-action/CG film in which Russell Brand voices the Easter Bunny. After that, an adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is in the works. Also on tap is Flanimals from Ricky Gervais, a Where’s Waldo movie, and the Tim Burton animated adaptation of The Addams Family. If these projects turn out as successful as Despicable Me, then we’re looking at another powerhouse animation studio. When Meledandri, who previously worked at Fox Animation, came on board to head the studio, he brought the most talented people at Fox with him, signing them to exclusive contracts. How much that bodes well for Illumination probably depends on how well you think Fox Animation’s track record has been. Either way, I look forward to seeing how the company develops."

Google App Inventor: Now Anyone Can Create an Android App
Google is launching a new tool on Monday that lets anyone create an app for Android phones.
Google App Inventor claims to enable non-coders to develop complete, working Android apps by connecting a series of “blocks”. Google has been testing App Inventor in schools for a year, reports the NYTimes. At the time of writing, App Inventor is only available to those who apply via a form.
The concept is a smart one: Not only is the Android Market an open platform for developers (with no approval process, ala the App Store), but now we’ll likely see a vast array of specialized apps built by non-developers. This could radically increase the volume of apps in the Market versus the App Store.
The expansion may of course come at the cost of quality: We’ll see thousands of new Android apps, but will they be of a “cookie cutter” nature, offering very little value? There is, however, an upside in the long-term: If App Inventor is so simple that schoolchildren can make apps, some those same children will soon become coders themselves … and perhaps choose to develop Android apps rather than iPhone.
What do you think? Is App Inventor a winning play on Google’s part?
